It's a little late for a latte.

Here's some information you might find helpful:

Materials needed for the class:
  1. jump drive (recommended)
  2. eReader (suggested) - any kind
  3. binder, notebook, or folder (required) - can be shared with other classes
  4. composition book (recommended) - to keep all of your in-class writing in one place

Class helper positions (yes, we're going back to elementary school):
  1. Secretary - very important - The secretary will keep track of handouts for students who were out, update the blog with new information, and generally help me keep my head on straight.
  2. Barista - The barista will make coffee and keep the coffee bar generally cleaned and straightened.
  3. Returner - The returner checks the graded paper file each class for newly graded work and hands it out.
* You can't really get extra credit or community service for these jobs, but you will earn my appreciation.  If you don't know what a teacher's appreciation is worth, don't apply for the jobs.

Other info:
  • I hate busy work more than you do.
  • Homework, like a ravenous Jabberwock, devours the time I'd like to spend with my children in the evenings.  I, therefore, tend to give very little.  If I give it, I think it's important, and you should do it.
  • I despise when people are late.
  • Students will be exploring at least two independent readings this year, so be thinking about what you might like to choose.
